Swimming as a revenue building sport

It is often argued that swimming is not able to create revenue, much unlike more popular spectator sports such as football, soccer, or baseball. This debate is especially relevant to collegiate swimming programs. Because swimming is especially known for being a sport that draws athletes to one particular college or another, it is argued that they bring in that much more money because of the tuition and food costs the athletes pay. While not as much income is generated at meets from fans and supporters, money is still gained from the athletes themselves paying for meet entry fees, concessions, etc. Because swimming does not have the high costs of pads, costumes, or much equipment, most of this money can go directly into accounts to generate revenue.

 Is swimming a non-revenue sport?
