Lifeguarding's effect on the economy

Lifeguarding has always been a popular job for teens and people in their younger twenties. This is because normally because they dont mind working long hours outside, but mostly because of the pay. With mimimum wage currewntly at $7.25 an hour and that of a lifeguard being around $8.80 according to payscale.com it is easy to see the appeal. This increased amount of young people working as lifeguards stimulates parts of the economy that would not usually benifit from older workers. While paying for so many lifeguards can be detrimental for public or private swimming facilities, the money paid goes back into the economy because the majority of it is used as disposibal income not needed for bills or payments, but instead for entertainment and activities.
